Our beginner sea sailing course is an IV. class marine pleasure boat driver’s qualification, which can be obtained as an additional qualification at the FüredYacht Training Center. For recreational purposes, IV. class marine small boat driver’s license entitles you to drive a small sailing boat or a small motor boat for pleasure at sea, within a distance of 3 nautical miles (approx. 5.6 km) from the coast, or in inland waters. The total length of a small sea sailing boat cannot reach 24 meters, the total length of a small inland sailing boat cannot reach 20 meters, and its passenger capacity can not exceed 12 persons.

Obtaining the internationally accepted Hungarian IV. class marine qualification, which, in contrast to the Croatian maritime “B” category license, is valid not only in the Croatian inland sea, but also in the seas of any other countries, within 3 nautical miles of their coastline.

About the course in detail

The beginner level, Hungarian IV. class additional maritime qualification is a novelty in the Hungarian navigation examination system, to be obtained after completion of our our beginner sailing and engine boat operator course you will have a chance. You will be able to supplement your inland water qualification with a simple theoretical exam for the sea, which will allow you to sail in the coastal waters of the world.

The IV. class marine driving license is valid not only in the Croatian inland sea, but also in the seas of other countries, within 3 nautical miles of their coastline. For island states and archipelago states, the baseline for defining the coastal sea is drawn by the baselines connecting the points of the most distant islands and reefs that make up the archipelago. So you can visit the popular parts of the Adriatic with this license!

Course topics

1. day: Theoretical training

On the first day of the two-day training, you will take part in a theoretical education, which includes understanding the basics and most important information of coastal navigation with the help of an illustrated study material, knowledge of COLREG (maritime traffic regulations), navigation knowledge, map operations, GPS use, basic radio knowledge, presentation of marine emergencies, learning the basics of marine weather.

2. day: Practical training

On the second day, the practical training will take place, which we have always emphasized at the FüredYacht Training Center. During the day, we will demonstrate the practical use of navigation tools (map, compass, GPS, orientator), basic harbor and sailing maneuvers with 35-41-foot sailboats, practice anchoring operations, as well as man-in-the-water, sea rescue exercises.

In case of sailing, as for all water sports, swimming skills are essential. Sailing is not among the dangerous sports, bur accidents may occur due to the weather conditions and human carelessness. When starting the sailing course, we hold a training on safety and call your attention to the eventual emergency situations. The mandatory water rescue equipment, like life-jacket, life-buoy, boathook, is part of the equipment on our boats. It is always recommended to wear the life-jacket, however it is mandatory in strong wind.
To obtain the beginner level, Hungarian IV. class additional maritime qualification you will have the opportunity after completing our beginner sailing and motor ship driver course. You will be able to complete your inland water qualification with a simple theoretical exam for the sea, which will allow you to sail in the coastal waters of the world.
If you already have a Hungarian inland small boat driver's qualification, the sailing boat or motor ship driver's qualification included in the qualification can be supplemented with the IV. class marine sailboat or motor boat qualification. In the case of the existing inland water qualification(s), the addition is 1 written test element, which is a test row containing 20 questions on the exam. If you get 15 correct answers, the exam is considered a pass.
From the electronic question bank of the FüredYacht Training Center and the electronic study material based on it, you can prepare for the exam and for independent sailing. After applying, we will send you the link to our educational website and your access code, which you can use to study on a computer or phone at any time. At the beginning of the course, we also provide printed study material, which contains the basics of sea navigation.
In order to obtain the IV. class marine boat driver's license, it is necessary to be at least 18 years of age, to have the Hungarian inland pleasure sailing small boat driver's qualification, to present a certificate proving health fitness in Hungarian, proof of payment of the examination fee, and theoretical preparation for boat drivers organized by a training body approved by the shipping authority proof of course participation.
You can buy sailing clothes at any nautical shops where you can buy everything from breathable clothes to sunglasses with chameleon lens. However, it is unnecessary to spend multiple times the price of the sailing course on your clothes for the first time. Indeed good quality sunglasses are essential. Due to the reflection of water, it is important to protect your eyes with good quality lens during sailing. Later, if you really go sailing frequently, it is worth investing in quality clothes, too.

Sailing is among the sports which can be generally characterized by being ageless. Mostly people around the age of 20-40 apply to our courses but there are often students above 50 in our school. We organize camp for children and team building thanks to which people of all age-groups have been already in our school. In general it can be stated that the majority of our students is man but there are some women in each course.

Lajos is the founder and instructor of FüredYacht, you can meet him mainly at the theory courses, but he can be used in any areas, he is the jolly joker of the sailing school. For “Mr. Let’s solve it” you cannot come up with a question for which he would not say that “we will solve it”. He has been sailing since his childhood with serious results, he loves what he does and this is what you can feel in every detail of FüredYacht.

Gábor is really a character, if he teaches you at the course, you will have an unforgettable experience for sure and you will with a smile that is guaranteed. He teaches with ease, in a stunning way, you will not even recognize that you are learning. Pufi also has a serious competition pas, he also qualified for the Olympics in 2016 in Laser class.

Máté is the most active and youngest FüredYacht instructor. He is a complete fanatic of wind since he was 6. He is World Champion in Cadet class (U15) and National Champion in windsurfing. Next to Máté, the course will be not only useful but also joyful, because he is continuously smiling. With him you will not be able to do the course with poker face, even if you want it too.
