You can learn sailing at many places, however if you want to certify your knowledge with a document, from 1 January, 2009 you can only do the small boat driving exam if before you have participated at a training accredited by the Shipping Department of the Hungarian National Transport Authority. Our Training Center has the appropriate permission therefore we can issue for our students the certificate about the training which is necessary for entering the boat driving exam.

For our trainings, we organize off-site authority exam, therefore the exam takes place in the usual conditions and on the well-known boats. The complete administration of the authority exam is realized by our Training Center.

BOAT DRIVING EXAM DETAILS

The small sailing boat driving license for inland water sport and hobby purposes is internationally valid, it authorizes for driving a sailing boat in all inland waters of the world.

If you drive your sailing boat with this license, the maximum hull length can be 20 meters and the maximum number of passengers is 12 persons, as in case of exceeding the 20 m boat length and 12 persons, you need official qualification.

The small motor boat driving license for sport and hobby purposes provides qualification for driving boats with a power of more than 4 KW in inland water at international level, without superior horse power limitation, also up to 20 meters of boat length and a maximum of 12 passengers.

The requirement of the international marine license is to have the inland driving license.

The exam fees include the costs of the exam room, the exam boat and the off-site authority exam fee, but do not include the fee of issuing the document. The fee of issuing the document is 14.800 HUF.

EXAM PROCESS AND AUXILIARY MATERIALS

Exam Process

The exam requires 1+1 days, the theory and practical tasks shall be passed on a separated theory exam day and practical exam day. The prerequisite of entering the practical exam is a 100% successful theory exam. The theory exam is a test.

If you fail in any of the exam subjects, you must pass a repeat exam only for the subject you failed, and the repeat exam fee shall be paid only for that topic.

Small motor boat driving test (in case if the candidate applied also for obtaining the small motor boat driving license) | Sailing boat driving test (in case if the candidate applied also for obtaining the small sailing boat driving license) | Each test contains 20 questions in a multiple choice test in which you must minimum 18 points out of 23 points (18 questions for 1 point, 2 questions for 3 points each) to pass the test.

The prerequisite of entering the practical exam is a 100% successful theory exam.

You can buy sailing clothes at any nautical shops where you can buy everything from breathable clothes to sunglasses with chameleon lens. However, it is unnecessary to spend multiple times the price of the sailing course on your clothes for the first time. Indeed good quality sunglasses are essential. Due to the reflection of water, it is important to protect your eyes with good quality lens during sailing. Later, if you really go sailing frequently, it is worth investing in quality clothes, too.

The condition of obtaining the sailing license, and to pass the exam is to learn the theoretical and practical exam tasks. Thanks to the sailing school’s syllabus and the profound, professional education, 90% of our students passes the exam for the first try, therefore you can see that is possible to obtain the sailing license for the first try. Our training includes the practical material with increased number of hours which cannot be replaced with studying at home. It is really important for us that all our students shall have sufficient practical knowledge. The proportion of students failing the practical exam is insignificant in Füredyacht sailing school.
